Glenfiddich has been making Scotch whisky since 1886 and is now the top seller of single malt Scotch whisky worldwide. Glenfiddich literally means “Valley of the Deer” in Gaelic. So it’s fitting that Glenfiddich single malt whisky is known by the stag logo.
The New Glenfiddich Single Malt Logo
It wasn’t until 1968 that the stag actually appeared on Glenfiddich whisky bottles. The original icon was created by Charles Gordon, Life President at Glenfiddich and it was based it on a 19th century oil painting entitled ‘Monarch of the Glen’.
Over the years there has been some changes to the original design. The new version is more in keeping with the original. For example the previous logo stag only had 8 points on the antlers, the new one returns to the full 12 points to the antlers.
